Elect Katie Thornburrow to the County Council on May 4th

Katie Thornburrow believes in social justice, equality and opportunities for all, but her main passions are in sustainable communities and food policy. She has worked with individuals and families, with land owners and developers, with planners and financiers to develop homes and amenities to provide excellent low energy, quality family homes in a setting that enhances biodiversity, provides community gardens and opportunities for the youngest and oldest, the frail or disadvantaged, to learn from the landscape and planting, to eat the food grown in the community gardens and appreciate the physical fabric of the buildings and spaces.

In her job she is used to working with complex legislation, requirements from many different parties and the reality of what can be built and how, and there are many parallels between this and the work of a councillor.

She says "I know that making a difference is a long and hard process but we architects are very good at having a vision and going through the many small steps needed to see it through".
