New Jobs And Homes For East Chesterton

The new Chesterton railway station is on track to open in May 2016  and Cambridge City Council is committed to using the new station as a springboard to improve and enhance the area as a whole. The Cambridge local plan which we have put forward     proposes to develop the area around the station in a  comprehensive and co-ordinated manner for an employment-led mixed development that will bring new homes, jobs and   businesses to East Chesterton.

Firm proposals for an Area Action Plan have been put out for consultation with public. Once residents have had their say, we will make representations to the Secretary of State to  press ahead.

East Chesterton Labour Councillor Dr Peter Sarris, who chairs the council committee on the local plan, says “The development of the station area is a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform Chesterton for the better. As a Labour council, we are determined to deliver more jobs, homes and services for local people, while protecting the                 environment.”
